Drug License — Overview
A Drug License is a mandatory approval issued by the State Drug Controller under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. Any person or entity engaged in the sale, distribution, or manufacture of drugs and pharmaceutical products must obtain the appropriate drug license before commencing operations.
Who Needs a Drug License?
- Retail Pharmacy: Any chemist or medical store selling drugs to the public
- Wholesale Drug Dealer: Distributors supplying drugs to retailers or hospitals
- Drug Manufacturer: Companies manufacturing pharmaceutical products
- Hospital Pharmacy: In-house pharmacies within hospitals and clinics
Types of Drug Licenses
- Retail Drug License (Form 20 & 21): For retail sale of allopathic medicines
- Wholesale Drug License (Form 20B & 21B): For wholesale distribution of drugs
- Manufacturing License: For pharmaceutical manufacturing units
- Restricted License: For general stores selling limited OTC medicines
Key Eligibility for Retail Drug License
- A registered pharmacist must be present during business hours
- Minimum premises area as prescribed by state rules (typically 10 sq. m.)
- Adequate storage facilities including refrigeration for certain drugs
- Separate storage for Schedule H, H1, and X drugs
Fire NOC — Overview
A Fire No Objection Certificate (NOC) is issued by the State Fire Department certifying that a building or establishment meets all fire safety norms. It is mandatory for occupancy and operation of certain categories of buildings under the National Building Code and state fire safety regulations.

- Hotels, restaurants, and banquet halls
- Hospitals and nursing homes
- Shopping malls and multiplexes
- Factories and industrial establishments
- Schools, colleges, and educational institutions
- Buildings above 15 metres in height or with 500+ occupancy

Upon successful inspection and verification, the Drug License or Fire NOC is issued. We hand over all original documents to you.
