What is FSSAI License?
FSSAI License is a mandatory food safety license issued by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) for all food business operators. It ensures that food businesses comply with food safety standards and regulations under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
Operating a food business without FSSAI license can result in penalties up to ?5 lakh and imprisonment up to 6 months. The license is valid for 1-5 years depending on the category.
Types of FSSAI License
- Basic Registration: For small food businesses with turnover up to ?12 lakh
- State License: For medium food businesses with turnover ?12 lakh to ?20 crore
- Central License: For large food businesses with turnover above ?20 crore
