What is Import Export Code (IEC)?
Import Export Code (IEC) is a mandatory 10-digit alphanumeric code issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry. It is required for all businesses engaged in import or export activities in India.
Without IEC, you cannot import or export goods from India. The code has lifetime validity and needs to be obtained before starting any international trade business.
